60K.m from Shiridi ,a small village Shani Shinganapur, which has door less mystery, is famous as a pilgrimage centre . Sri Shanishwara the personification of the planet Saturn is worshipped by people from all over the world here.A unique aspect of this place is that no temple structure houses the Shanidev. There is only a simple platform on which stands the swayambhu (self-born) idol, in black stone. A Neem tree stands sentinel to the North of the Shani idol.
I have visited this place with my husband when we had a visit to Shiridi sai temple. We took a shared taxi from Shiridi ,went to this place. We have a believe that ladies do not visit Shanidev's temple and worship him directly.
Devotees generally wear a saffron-colored attire and have a head bath in the holy water close to the temple before entering it. There is no priest to perform the pooja. The pooja is carried out in the form of offering Pradakshinams - of going around the idol a couple of times. Devotees also perform Abhishekam with water and gingerly oil.
My husband took a head bath and did the Abhishekam with water and oil.Though I did not do any such pooja and Abhishekam ,I found that place very religious and worth visit.
