Theland of Ganpatipule, one of Maharashtra's famous beaches.Almost 4000 year old land mark Swayambhu Ganapati temple (Swayambhu means 'self-made', this is a temple of the self-originated idol, Ganapati).You can find Sparkling blue waters, endless stretches sand ,cool wind and very calm place to spend your time.
I have visited this place with my husband and son in 21st september 2007 during the Ganesh Puja time.
How to reach there from pune: Ganapatipule is around 336 k.m from Pune station.There are many ways you can go to Ganapatipule from Pune.we have choosed one of the best option to reach there.We have crossed the Katraj Ghat ,then touched the pune -satra road.This is the Bombay -bangalore highway ,so the road condition is very good.In the same road you have to drive staright and reach a place called Umbraj ,which is 18k.m before Karad.From this place you have to take right turn,under flyover and proceed towards Chiplun. You have to cross a place called Patan in between.This is a state high way ,but road condition is very good with very few traffic.One have to cross Kumbharli ghat ,length of around 18 k.m ,one of the very beautiful Ghat before Chiplun.From Chipul you have to take right turn and take the Bombay-Goa Highway.You have to go staraight till Nevali.From Nevali you have to take the left turn towards Ganapatiphule.You will get good hotels on the Bombay-Bangalore High way and in Chipul.From Umbraj to Chipul you won't find a single Hotel.From Chiplun to Ganpatipule it is a winding road up the mountain.One can really enjoy the drive from Pune to Ganapatipule ,becuase you will come across High way,village road,Ghat,Moutain,greenry and even the Koyana river view.
Where To stay there: There are many hotels and private rooms are available to stay in Ganapatipule,but the best option is MTDC resort. The rooms are good here(Personal experience is choose the Non-AC rooms insted of AC ones).The resort is near sea beach,you can enjoy the beach from the gallry of the rooms.Food is also good here in MTDC.If you want to have the Konkani food,then go to the local Chal resturants,you will definitely get very good Konkani foods there.
There are many places around Ganaptipule and on the way to Ganapatipule from Pune.But we did not visit other places.We enjoyed our two days stay in Ganapatipule.My overall experience of this trip is memorable.
